One man with a vision
Today Qmatic is a thriving international business supported by a strong network of alliances and partners.
A history to be proud of
Qmatic was founded in 1981 by an engineer and a service-minded entrepreneur running a restaurant business in Gothenburg, Sweden. The entrepreneur, Rune Sahlin, invented a number and display system enabling customers to choose their meal and also see when it was their turn to collect it. This was the first Qmatic system.
The company soon started installing systems in the Swedish Post
Office, banks and major railway stations. Today the concept of virtual queuing is well known in Sweden, as in many other countries, with customers expecting orderly and fair queuing in most public areas.
In 1982 the first Qmatic system was sold abroad, and in 1987 we opened our office in the US. Today Qmatic is a thriving international business with operations all over the world, supported by a strong network of subsidiaries and distribution partners.
