Q-Matic was founded in 1981 by an entrepreneur and an engineer, in Göteborg, Sweden. By adding a display panel to the number system invented for their restaurant business, customers could choose their meal and also see when it was their turn to collect it. This was the first Q-Matic system.
The company started selling the queuing system concept with installations for the Swedish Post Office, banks and ticketing offices at major railway stations.
From the start, Q-Matic had its sights set on the export market with the first installation abroad in 1982. Q-Matic started business in the US in 1987.
Q-Matic created Customer Flow Management (CFM) and is the world’s leading queue management company.
